The work of DON BOSCO NEL MONDO Foundation

International solidarity

Support for the Salesian missions

We promote, organize, and support the Salesian missions in the world through the Onlus Branch of the Foundation. We pursue sustainable development, social justice, improvement of the living conditions of the poorest and most disadvantaged people, starting with young people.

Our work is aimed at offering:

  • hospitality and protection
  • education and training
  • educational-pastoral activity
  • integral ecology
  • long-distance support
  • response to humanitarian emergencies
  • strengthening of institutional presence

The economic and logistical support of the missions takes place in the Framework of Reference for Salesian Youth Ministry, established by the Congregation.

We work to strengthen the presence and sustain the impact of all Salesian works, also through coordination and co-planning activities with the missions. In this way, we contribute to both extension and strengthening of the Salesian presence in the world, to support both capillarity and impact of the missions.

Accountability

We encourage the sustainability of Salesian works in the world on an economic, social, and environmental level. We guarantee donors transparent reporting on both use of resources and results achieved.

Advocacy

We encourage the adoption of supportive behaviors, in order to create a society that is more attentive and responsible towards the needs of others. We promote collaboration, sharing, and gift of resources to improve the lives of disadvantaged people.

Co-planning

Capacity Building

We build both internal and external skills needed to be agents of change through the missions. We implement training programs for Salesians and lay people, in order to develop a common and shared vision.

Accompainiment

We accompany the Provinces, Vice Provinces, and Delegations towards awareness and knowledge of the tools needed to carry out projects to improve the living conditions of young people in hard situations and in poverty.

Programs

We carry out targeted programs for the growth of human resources, in both material and immaterial terms: project management, reporting, and other skills useful for making the Salesian charism current, effective, and sustainable.

The Good Press

The Salesian Bulletin

We are entrusted with the drafting and publication of the Salesian Bulletin, the official magazine of the Salesian Congregation.

It is the calling card of the Salesian Family and reports facts, events, and activities related to it, sharing the missionary and educational vitality of the Salesian movement. The Bulletin also promotes projects in support of the missions and emergency situations in which the Salesians are engaged.

It was founded by Don Bosco in 1877 and is currently published in more than 60 languages. It is sent to over 500,000 families. As the founder wished, the Italian edition of the Salesian Bulletin is distributed free of charge to all its readers. Find out more

The Magazine

The magazine of the Foundation is a valuable tool for us to promote, as regards both projects themselves and fundraising. The reports and insights it contains propose stories from the missions, interviews with project managers, testimonies from boys and girls who are the recipients of support actions. It is distributed 3 times a year.

Spirituality

Holy Masses

It is possible to request the celebration of Holy Masses, at the Sanctuary of the Sacred Heart in Rome or even in mission lands, according to the preference of the person requesting it.

The Masses can be of different types:

  • ordinary, that is, one-time;
  • Gregorian, that is, 30 consecutive Masses in suffrage of a deceased person;
  • perpetual, that is, daily Masses for living or deceased persons that are celebrated forever at the Sacred Heart in Rome.

St. Dominic Savio’s scapular

This small scapular is worn with faith by mothers to ask for St. Dominic Savio’s protection and the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary for a peaceful pregnancy and for the health of their baby.

It is tailored on the model that the young Saint made for his mother during her last problematic pregnancy. Through Mary’s intercession, the woman miraculously healed and gave birth to Catherine. Before dying, Dominic recommended to his mother to keep the scapular and lend it to any woman in danger.

Throughout the world, there are many mothers and couples who are having difficulty becoming parents, who over the years have testified that they have received grace after wearing the scapular and praying with faith to Saint Dominic Savio and Our Lady.
